Sustainability
Rock im Park stands not only for unforgettable live moments, but also for responsibility towards the environment and society. That’s why we are constantly working to make the festival more sustainable. Since 2025, we have gone one step further and strengthened our commitment with our own sustainability team and strategic sustainability management in accordance with ISO 20121.
Our focus: less waste, more green energy, climate-friendly mobility, and a festival environment that includes everyone. Here you can find out what has already been achieved and what goals we have set ourselves for 2026. And because change is best achieved together: send us your ideas to sustainability@rock-im-park.com! Together, we are making Rock im Park fit for the future.
Goals for 2026
1. SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENT
Rock im Park is supported by a professional sustainability team and external consulting from mediapool. A decisive step in 2025 was the introduction of a sustainable event management system in accordance with DIN ISO 20121. It provides companies and event organizers with clear guidelines on how to plan and implement their events in an environmentally friendly, socially responsible, legally compliant, and economically sustainable manner. Certification according to this standard demonstrates that sustainability is an integral part of your event processes. We have developed a clear sustainability policy that applies not only to us. We actively share this vision with all our partners and invite them to join us on this journey – so that together we can achieve more.
What exactly happens?
- Involvement of all stakeholders and prioritization of key areas of action
- Analysis of all greenhouse gas emission areas to identify reduction potential and monitor the effectiveness of measures taken
- Three-year certification process with independent consulting for greater transparency and quality assurance
- Close cooperation with Rock am Ring for the efficient implementation of sustainability measures
2. CLIMATE-FRIENDLY MOBILITY
Rock im Park promotes environmentally friendly travel options, including through cooperation with public transportation. To reduce our environmental impact, we are also optimizing the use of construction vehicles and increasingly focusing on e-mobility. The electrification of commercial vehicles will continue to be examined.
What is planned for 2026?
- Free bicycle parking to promote sustainable travel
- Increased communication around climate-friendly travel options
- Review of the use of battery systems instead of generators
- Continuous monitoring of CO2(e) emissions from fossil fuel energy supply
- Use of bicycles and electric scooters for employees
- Gradual electrification of commercial vehicles
- Optimized route planning to reduce fuel consumption
- Review of the efficient use of lighting technology and design
3. SUSTAINABLE CATERING
Our catering partner (GTB Gastro Team Bremen) focuses on environmentally friendly solutions such as reusable cups and a plastic-free food court. The use of single-use plastic is completely prohibited at our stands.
Our measures:
- CO₂ calculation and corresponding labeling of food items
- Expansion of vegetarian and vegan offerings
- Abandoning single-use plastic in favor of alternative materials made from renewable raw materials
4. GREEN ENERGY SUPPLY
Rock im Park is reducing its use of fossil fuels and increasingly relying on sustainable alternatives, including innovative solutions for saving energy and increasing efficiency.
This is what we are implementing:
- Use of certified green electricity wherever possible
- Diesel generators now only used as emergency power supplies
- Photovoltaic lighting for toilets and waste stations
- Energy-efficient stage lighting
- Climate accounting as a basis for strategic savings in fossil fuels
5. WASTE PREVENTION & RECYCLING
Rock im Park has set itself the goal of keeping waste to a minimum. Many measures aim to prevent waste in general. Unavoidable waste is separated as much as possible, primarily so that recyclable materials can be reused through recycling.
This is what happens:
- Ban on Tetra Paks and single-use bottles in the event area
- Ban on single-use plastics across the entire festival grounds
- 100% reusable cups & expansion of reusable tableware
- Provision of drinking water stations to promote reusable drinking bottles
- Awareness campaigns on waste prevention
- Detailed waste analysis for ongoing optimization
- More collection points and separate collection of food waste for biogas production
6. CAMPING SITE & GREEN CAMPING
Green camping is continuously being expanded – a win-win situation, as it not only offers a quieter environment but also promotes resource-saving behavior.
Our measures for 2025:
- Awareness campaigns for sustainable camping
- Collaboration with initiatives to reduce waste in camping areas
- Promotion of reusable camping equipment
- Collaboration with retailers to market sustainable products
- Cooperation with food rescue initiatives
- Increased use of recycling stations at campsites
- Introduction of additional urinals to prevent public urination and environmentally friendly high-pressure cleaning instead of chemical toilet solutions
- Promotion of environmentally friendly hygiene products for clean wastewater
- Further expansion of green camping areas and cooperation with environmental initiatives
7. COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
Rock im Park promotes a festival culture that is fair, inclusive, and safe. We are committed to environmental and social sustainability and work closely with NGOs to fully embrace these values. Together with experts in the fields of diversity, equality, and inclusion, we have developed a Code of Conduct to ensure that our values are not just words on paper, but are actively implemented in our everyday work. We want to raise awareness of the importance of diversity and create an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome and respected.
This is what we are committed to:
- Awareness Team & Safer Spaces for a positive festival culture
- Cooperation with NGOs and associations for social sustainability
- Through collaborations with experts in the fields of diversity, inclusion, and awareness, we are continuously broadening our perspectives.
- Rock im Park should be a place where everyone is welcome and can feel comfortable – a safe space with open communication, tolerance, and humanity.
- Further development of the inclusion concept
You can find all information about inclusion at here.
Our sustainability goals, which are based on the ISO 20121 process, will be evaluated and independently reviewed after the festival. They serve as the basis for our goals in the coming year.

Rock im Park stands for shared experiences, for music, freedom and respect. Our festival is a place where everyone should feel welcome. To achieve this, a considerate and respectful interaction is essential.
This is what we stand for:
I. Taking Responsibility
A respectful and mindful approach toward one another is the foundation of a safe and positive festival experience.
- Respect: Please treat everyone with respect.
- Thoughtfulness: Look out for each other and take responsibility for everyone’s well-being. This includes respecting your own boundaries as well as those of others.
II. Mindful Behavior
Mindfulness creates an environment where everyone feels safe and comfortable.
- Consent: Physical and verbal interaction must always be based on mutual agreement and should never be taken for granted.
- Communication: If something is unclear - ask again. Better to check than to assume. - “No means no.”
- Awareness & Support: Look out for one another. If you experience or witness any form of boundary-crossing behavior, do not hesitate to speak up or contact the designated support services (e.g., WhatsApp hotline).
III. No Place for Discrimination
Demeaning or exclusionary behavior has no place at our festival. This includes comments or actions targeting someone’s appearance, gender, origin, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or social and economic status. Especially we reject all forms of racism and antisemitism.
Anyone who disregards these principles and violates our community standards may be excluded from the event.
Let’s work together to make Rock im Park a place where everyone can celebrate freely and feel welcome!
